Physiology Illustrations

Project Aim
Create a series of accurate and engaging illustrations that break down complex physiological processes, helping Kenhub users understand topics that can be difficult to grasp through text alone.
Approach
Working from detailed explanations provided by subject-matter experts, I identified the key stages of each process and translated them into clear vector illustrations.
-
Clarified any initial questions about the brief with the subject-matter expert.
-
Shared rough illustrations early to confirm the labelling, scientific content and visual direction.
-
Worked on several illustrations at once, beginning the next while earlier artwork was under review to make good use of time and keep the project moving.
-
Once the direction was agreed, refined each illustration using Kenhub’s visual guidelines for physiology illustrations.
-
Applied any final feedback before preparing the illustrations for translation.
-
Used Adobe Illustrator scripts to maintain consistent label formatting and create versions in five languages.
-
Planned each composition with text expansion in mind, allowing space for longer translated labels.
Getting expert input at the rough stage helped resolve issues early and kept changes at the final review stage to a minimum.
